Peter Craig Dutton (born November 18, 1970 ) is an Australian politician with the Liberal Party of Australia and has been Minister of the Interior since 2017.

Dutton has been a member of the Australian House of Representatives for the Liberal Party of Australia since 2001, representing the Division of Dickson constituency in Queensland . He was re-elected five times. On September 18, 2013, Dutton became Minister of Health and Sports. On December 21, 2014, he became Minister of Migration in the Department of Immigration and Border Protection under the government of Tony Abbott and also held that position under Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull . From December 20, 2017 he was Minister of the Interior. After trying in vain to replace Malcolm Turnbull as party leader, he resigned from his ministerial office on August 21, 2018. In the internal party vote on August 21, 2018, Dutton received 35 votes and Turnbull 48 votes.

On March 13, it was announced that he was infected with the coronavirus .
