Peter Joseph Simone

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter Joseph "Las Vegas Pete" Simone (* 1945 ) is an Italian-American mobster of the American Cosa Nostra and since 2006 the official underboss of the Civella family (Kansas City Crime Family) , which has its headquarters in Kansas City (Missouri) . Since the early 1990s, Simone is said to have been responsible for the gambling activities of the syndicate, whose interests extend to Las Vegas .

Arrests in the 1990s

In April 1992, Simone was found guilty of money laundering in a video poker fraud and sentenced to four years in prison. Twenty men were even temporarily detained for refusing to give incriminating testimony during the trial. One of them was Peter's 21 year old son Joseph "Joe Pete" Simone . In 1996 he was released on three years parole.

In 1997 the Missouri Gaming Commission inscribed him in the so-called "Black Book Prohibiting Unwanted Persons in Missouri Casinos".

On January 2, 1999, just two months before the end of his probationary period, Simone was caught playing craps in a Harrah's Entertainment Inc. hotel casino . Although he was sentenced to only one day in prison, his probation period was extended to four months of electronically monitored house arrest for 12 months. A little later, in 1999, Simone broke his parole again when he was watched by FBI agents for more than three hours at Simone's Avenue Social Club . Simone had to go back to prison. He was released on February 29, 2000.

The FBI assumes that Peter Joseph "Las Vegas Pete" Simone still serves as "number 2" in the family under the leadership of family boss John "Johnny Joe" Sciortino .
