Peter Sondakh

Peter Sondakh (* 1953 in Surabaya , Indonesia ) founded the Indonesian Rajawali Group, of which he is the owner and managing director to this day. As a multi-billionaire, Sondakh belongs to the group of the richest businessmen in Indonesia.

life and career

At the age of 22, Sondakh took over the business of his father, who died early and who had traded in palm oil and wood from 1954. As a partner of Bambano Trihatmodjo, a son of the then Indonesian President Suharto , Sondakh successfully built new hotels, including the Grand Hyatt in Jakarta in 1986. In 1989 he founded the company Taksi-Express, whose business model enabled taxi drivers to participate.

Rajawali is a conglomerate that diversifies u. a. operates in the hotel sector (Sheraton, Novotel, Hyatt, Starwood), in the tobacco industry (Bentoel Group) and in the cement industry (Semen Gresik). Rajawali is involved in a railway project in Tarahan / Sumatra. Peter Sondakh lives in Beverly Hills / USA and Indonesia. Sondakh generously and philanthropically supports American universities, including Harvard University, to which the Asia Institute of the Rajawali Foundation is attached. Sondakh emphasized his Christian attitude in interviews.
