Petra Kelly Prize
The Petra Kelly Prize is supported by the Heinrich Boell Foundation awarded as a political statement every two years to people who distinguish themselves through outstanding activities in one or more of the following areas:
- Enforcement or defense of universal human rights
- Development of non-violent conflict resolution
- environmental Protection
- Commitment to social justice
- Promotion of cultural dialogue and mutual respect between cultures
- Strengthening the international green movement
The award is named after Petra Kelly , a co-founder of the German Greens , and is endowed with 10,000 euros (previously 20,000 DM).

- 2000: Berta and Nicolasa Quintréman Calpán from Chile, activists of the civil movement against the construction of the Ralco dam
- 2002: Íngrid Betancourt , Colombian presidential candidate and leader of the green party Oxígeno Verde
- 2004: Prof. Wangari Muta Maathai , Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Kenyan politician, environmentalist and biologist
- 2006: Juri Schmidt , Russian lawyer, defense attorney for Mikhail Khodorkovsky
- 2008: Zhang Sizhi , Chinese criminal lawyer and human rights attorney
- 2010: Marianne Fritzen , opponent of nuclear power and co-founder of the "Citizens' Initiative Environmental Protection Lüchow-Dannenberg" against planned nuclear facilities in Gorleben
- 2012: Ales Byalyazki , Belarusian human rights activist
- 2014: Razan Zaitouneh , Samira al-Khalil , Wael Hamadeh and Nazem Hammadi , human rights activists at the Documentation Center in Damascus
