The Roman Catholic parish church of Schwarzenbach is located in the market town of Schwarzenbach in the Wiener Neustadt-Land district in Lower Austria . The church consecrated to St. Bartholomew belongs to the deanery Kirchschlag in the vicariate Unter dem Wienerwald of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building .

history

At the same location as today's parish church was an old, smaller church, which was built around 1407. Today nothing is left of this. The last remnant, which was used as a sacristy, was demolished in 1964-67 during the expansion and renovation of the current church. The extension went in the direction of the high altar, the sacristy, the confessional chamber and the side chapel were added.

The tower, the shape dates from 1609, was first placed above the high altar of the old church. During the construction of today's church, it was turned around, from the high altar backwards, placed above the choir of today's church.

The current church dates from 1767 and was built under Prince Nikolaus I Esterházy de Galántha after it was looted and burned down in 1707 during the Kuruc invasion.

On September 1, 2016, the parish moved from the Lanzenkirchen deanery to the Kirchschlag deanery.

architecture

The parish church is of the Rococo-Empire style. It is a so-called hall church with tectonic vaults and consecrated to the holy Apostle Bartholomäus.

Furnishing

The decor is a mixture of baroque and modern.

There is a baroque tabernacle in the sacrament chapel. In the niche opposite is “Mary with the Infant Jesus”. On the right is the image of St. Johannes von Nepomuk, on the left the picture of the "Immaculate Conception". In front of the extended part: crucifixion group and folk altar, on the walls there are 14 pictures of the Stations of the Cross. The altarpiece, a representation of St. Apostle Bartholomew, has been restored. The main altar was rebuilt.
