Parish orchestra

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parish orchestra is the name of an orchestra in a parish . Often it is a wind orchestra or string orchestra that make music in different instrumentations, arrangements and registers and with very different demands. The central aspect is the appearance at church events such as church services, parish festivals, etc.

Similar to church choirs , the motivation of these orchestras lies in their interest in the musical shaping of church cooperation. The degree of institutionalization of a parish orchestra is usually higher than that of a music group, band or combo. Some of the orchestras have become legally independent, for example as an association (eV). This brings organizational advantages with it without, however, being connected with a detachment from the parish.
