Arrow rest

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An arrow rest ( English rest or arrow rest ) is a mechanical component that is glued or screwed to the middle part of a recurve bow , bare bow or compound bow . The longbow archer does not use an arrow rest, but shoots the arrow from the hand or directly over the middle part.

Using the arrow rest

The task of the arrow rest is to offer the arrow an identical rest position before the shot and to support it. The arrow rest is usually used together with a button . Together with the nocking point , the arrow rest determines the trajectory of the arrow. A damaged arrow rest must be replaced immediately, otherwise the arrow flight can no longer be calculated.

Construction

Arrow rests are available in a wide variety of designs and materials. The most common are arrow rests, which are either glued or screwed to the middle part. With regard to the materials, designs made of metal or plastic predominate.

A special design of the arrow rest is the so-called "overdraw". It can be used to shoot shorter arrows with the same extension because it moves the arrow rest in the direction of the string.
