Self-propelled locomobile (tractor), a so-called plow locomotive

Traction engine or steam tractor designates the self-propelled locomobile equipped with a cable winch . Many of them are steam tractors .

Plow locomotive

The plow locomotive ( originally plow locomotive ) or steam plow locomotive only refers to the ready-to-use locomobile ( steam engine ), the vehicle without the plow and the other necessary accessories. It works by pulling a tipping plow over the field by means of a steel cable .

The plow locomotive was and is often referred to as a steam plow , but this is not entirely correct, because the term steam plow originally referred to the entire set of machines, consisting of the machines, water trucks, personnel carriers, pump carts and plow.
