Phönix-Schwingen is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 125). The work was performed for the first time on January 17, 1853 in the Sofienbad Hall .

Remarks

The name Phoenix-Schwingen has two possible interpretations. For one thing, the composer felt well again after a long illness. It made him feel like a phoenix risen from the ashes . The second interpretation relates to a wagon company called Phönix , which had just been founded in Vienna at the time. Strauss dedicated the work to his musician colleague Hans von Bülow (1830–1894).

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 7 minutes and 6 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can vary by up to about a minute plus or minus.
