Phagotrophy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Phagotrophie denotes the heterotrophic diet by inclusion of particles. In algae , phagotrophy is an extremely special form of nutrition in which phagotrophic algae, which have lost their pigments and thus the ability to assimilate, instead take up solid food particles, which are then converted into energy that the algae can use in special food vacuoles .
