Phidaleia
Phidaleia ( Greek Φιδάλεια ) is a female figure in Greek mythology .
As the wife of Byzas in his absence, she is said to have successfully defended the city of Byzantion named after him against the Scythian king Odryses by throwing snakes at the attacking army.
According to another mythological version, she was a daughter of Barbysses who, after union with Byzas, threw herself into the sea out of shame and fear of her father and became a rock that has since borne her name.
