The Philharmonic Orchestra Osaka ( jap. 大阪フィルハーモニー交響楽団, Osaka Firuhāmonī Kôkyô Gakudan ) is a Japanese symphony orchestra , which in 1960 by its first chief conductor Takashi Asahina to succeed the defunct since 1947 existing and the new foundation "Kansai Symphony Orchestra" in Osaka to Life was called.

The orchestra is headquartered in Nishinari District, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture . Since 2012 it has been a non-profit corporation as the "Osaka Philharmonic Society " ( 公益 社 団 法人 大阪 フ ィ ル ハ ー モ ニ ー 協会 , Ōsaka Firuhāmonī Kyōkai ). The orchestra has been under the musical direction of Takashi Ashina since it was founded, and in 2013 Eiji Ōue was appointed second music director. The orchestra has been under the direction of Michiyoshi Inoue since April 2014 . The orchestra is a full member of the Japanese Orchestra Association ( 日本 オ ー ケ ス ト ラ 連 盟 , Nihon Ōkesutora Renmei ). The orchestra gives commissioned and subscription concerts.
