Philippe Cauchefer

Philippe Cauchefer (* 1956 in Nogent-le-Rotrou ) is a French cellist.

Cauchefer comes from a family of musicians, his grandfather, who is also a cellist, directed the city's music school. He attended the École Nationale de Musique in Mans and the Conservatoire Régional de Musique in Aubervilliers and received first prizes in the subjects of violoncello and chamber music. At the age of fourteen he began his training at the Conservatoire de Paris , where he also received first prizes for cello and chamber music. He then perfected his cello education through courses and courses. a. with Arto Noras , Maud and Paul Tortelier .

He then worked as a cellist in various orchestras and in 1979 became second cellist with the Orchester Régional de Cannes under the direction of Philippe Bender . Since 1990 he has held the position of first cellist here.

With musicians from the orchestra, Cauchefer founded Les Solistes de Cannes , with whom he performs chamber music works at festivals in France and abroad. The ensemble recorded an album with Mozart's flute quartets and Jean-Michel Bossini's Miniaturas .

Cauchefer is also a member of the Trio des Solistes de Cannes , a string trio with violinist Berhilde Dufour and violist Eszter Biro , for which René Maillart composed a trio. With his sister Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin , he recorded works for cello and organ by Léon Boëllmann , Joseph Rheinberger and Daniel Roth .
