Philips VG-8020
VG 8020 is a MSX - home computer from Philips , which was launched in the 1984th
description
In contrast to its predecessor, the Philips VG-8010, the computer keyboard consisted of high-quality typewriter keys. The cursor keys have been arranged as a separate block. The key scheme corresponded to the American ASCII standard QWERTY. There were no keys for umlauts. The function keys have been limited to five.
The power supply was integrated into the housing. The computer is equipped with a Zilog Z80A processor with a clock frequency of 3.58 MHz and has over 64 Kbytes of RAM, of which 29 Kbytes were addressable from the BASIC. The memory was expandable to 128 Kbytes and also consisted of 16 Kbytes of video RAM and 32 Kbytes of ROM . It thus had twice as much memory as the Phillips VG-8010 , which appeared almost at the same time .
Its interfaces included two module ports that were located under a smoke-colored cover. Its interfaces also included a Centronics interface, a cassette connection, a video output, an HF antenna connection and two joystick ports on the front of the device.
There was a wide range of accessories for these Philips computer models, such as monitors, printers, floppy disk stations, joysticks, cassette recorders (D-6600 / 60P) and memory expansions of up to 144 Kbytes.
Due to a bug, the computer was not completely compatible with other MSX-1 systems, but could be corrected with a workaround ( POKE -1,170
) before starting a program.
