Philosophy today

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Philosophy Today was the name of a series of the West German radio station WDR , which was broadcast from 1988 to 2002. The programs lasted 45 minutes and were mostly in the form of philosophical portraits and themed films. Rüdiger Safranski realized several episodes of the format.

An interview of Safranski with the science philosopher Paul K. Feyerabend, recorded in Rome in 1993, was received much more strongly than other episodes of the series . The location was deliberately chosen to show Feyerabend against the backdrop of St. Peter's Basilica . In the course of the conversation, however, Feyerabend relativized his earlier criticism of religion. A film parody published on the video portal YouTube in 2016 indicates the cult status of the episode with Paul Feyerabend.
