Photodestruction

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Photo destruction means the destruction of the photosynthetic pigments through excessive exposure to light. This effect occurs above all in C 3 plants . With the C3 plants, a distinction is made between sun (strong light) and shadow (weak light) plants. The latter have a very low light compensation point with 0.5–1% of daylight . The light saturation point is also reached very quickly. The C 4 plants , on the other hand, do not reach the light saturation point even in full sunlight.
