pic2base is an online image database for the administration of digital photo stocks of different origins.

pic2base supports over 60 file formats, including numerous RAW formats .
The data is stored in a relational database , with the help of which a quick research is possible even over very large databases. It is operated completely via a web interface so that any operating system can be used as a client. A Linux system on which the components Apache , MySQL and PHP run is used as the database server . In the simplest case, a XAMPP installation is sufficient .

Performance characteristics
pic2base is designed to not allow any changes to the image data as long as the images are in the database. Only the metadata can be edited to the extent permitted by the database administrator.
The data can be recorded as a single image upload or as a batch upload via FTP.
Additional information can be assigned to each image. This can be an individual description, keywords (categories), GPS data or a quality assessment (grading).
The research can u. a. about all metadata, the image quality, individual fragments of the image description or even according to the geographic coordinates or the place name.
The search results are output in a filmstrip view and optionally also in a PDF file. Alternatively, the geo-referenced images can be displayed in GoogleEarth.
An integrated user management differentiates between the administrator, the photographer and the guests.
In addition to the features mentioned, pic2base offers the following additional functions:
- Photo diary: Any text can be stored for any date on which images are available.
- Category lexicon: An explanatory text can be added to each category in the database.
- Image download: optionally with or without metadata
- The view of the preview images of RAW files can be adjusted manually if necessary.
