Lists on the subject |
The pichangatti (hand knife) is a knife made by the tribes from the Kodagu (Coorg) region in southern India .
history
The Pichangatti is worn on the front of the body in the same belt as the Ayudha Katti . It serves less as a weapon and more as a utility knife, similar to our pocket knives .
description
The Pichangatti has a wide, heavy, single-edged blade that is about 20 cm long. At the point it is sharpened in the back area, similar to the Bowie knife . The handle (handle) is made of wood or horn and has a knob in the shape of a ball at the end . The handle scales are held on the handle by rivets and the handle is often decorated with metal fittings. The scabbard is made of leather or wood and is also often decorated with metal fittings made of brass or silver. Small chains made of brass or silver are often attached to the scabbard, on which small tools such as ear cleaners, nail cleaners and tweezers hang.
