Pierre Larthomas

Pierre Larthomas (born June 4, 1915 , † July 8, 2000 ) was a French Romance studies and literary scholar.

life and work

Larthomas was Agrégé de grammaire and after the war a high school teacher and novelist, from 1957 assistant at the Sorbonne. He completed his habilitation in 1969 at the University of Paris IV under Gérald Antoine with the Thèse Le langage dramatique. Sa nature, ses procédés (Paris 1972, 1980, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2005) and was professor there from 1970 to 1985. He was a co-founder of the 'Groupe d'étude en histoire de la langue française' (GEHLF).

His students included Dominique Combe, Philippe Jousset and Nathalie Fournier.
