Pietro Castelli

Pietro Castelli , also Petrus Castellus , (* 1574 (according to other information: around 1570 or around 1575) in Rome , † 1662 (or 1656 or 1661) in Messina ) was an Italian medic and botanist.

Castelli studied with the botanist Andrea Cesalpino (1519–1603). He was a professor in Rome from 1597 to 1634. He then went to Messina, where he founded the Botanical Garden in 1635.
