Pinsetter or Pinspotter (German: Stellautomat ) is a system used in bowling that collects the pins and puts them back in sequence. The latest pinsetters work with a pliers system.

Clamp system

In the clamp system there are not just ten but 20 clamps. This means that 30 pins can run in one machine and thus a quick pin change is guaranteed. The 30 pins in the machine are divided into three areas. The first ten pins are on the track and ready to be knocked over. The next ten pins are in the pliers (or a funnel), waiting to be driven down. The last ten pins are the ones waiting to drive into the pliers.

position

As soon as the first ball has been pushed and there are still a few pins, the pliers move down and grasp the remaining pins with the bottom pliers, while the pliers above hold the pins for the next round. The machine pulls the pins up and the pusher pushes the fallen pins that are still on the track back into the elevator, which later transports them back into the tongs. After the second throw, the pliers go down again, but do not grab the pins, but go up again. The slider pushes the last pins from the 2nd throw backwards. Now the pliers go down again, tilting the pins above the second pliers into the standing position and releasing them. Now these are ready to be knocked over again.

Ball return

Every bowling alley needs a ball return, which transports the so-called balls back to the front. This system works like this: The ball does not fit into the elevator, so it rolls behind the scenes into a hole on the side. As soon as it rolls into the hole, it rolls in front of a catapult, which brings the ball to high speed. So the ball rushes to the ball rest. Before the ball is deposited, it is braked and brought back to the so-called ball table with the conveyor belt, which is located in the housing of the ball rest, and can now be used again.
