Pionia

Pionia (Greek Πιονία) was an ancient city in Asia Minor landscape Mysia and Troas in today Gömeniç in Turkey .

The city allegedly founded by the Heraclid Pionis was in the interior northwest of Antandros . In Roman times it belonged to the conventus (judicial district) of Adramyttion . In the 2nd / 3rd In the 19th century (between Hadrian and Caracalla) Pionia minted its own coins. In late antiquity it was the seat of a bishop. The titular diocese of Pionia of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to the diocese .
