Pip International

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pip or Pip International was a German-language comic magazine that appeared between 1971 and 1973. Due to its erotic content, it was aimed at an adult audience.

Publication and content

Pip was published from 1971 to 1973, until April 1972 by the Swiss publishing press, then by the press publishing house Zug, also from Switzerland. Pip , which started at the beginning of the summer of 1971, was responsible for Rolf Kauka . The magazine, which was now subtitled Comics for Adults , began with the comics Jodelle , Scarlett Dream and Siegfried , which were printed as serial stories, as well as some cartoons. Later came Paulette and epoxy added. In addition, a series of photos was published with a shaven and unclothed Veruschka Countess von Lehndorff combined with an invitation to the reader to send their own photo contributions. The foreign series that expired were replaced in the course of time by series by draftsmen and authors associated with the Kauka House. It was not until 1973 that a comic called Pravda was published again, which came from external sources. The publication of Pip was stopped in 1973 with issue 6/1973, after issue 3/4 from the same year had already appeared as a double issue without an imprint. The reasons given for the publication of the double issue were strikes in Italy. A total of 23 issues were published.

External perception and classification

Andreas C. Knigge sees the publication of Pip as an attempt by Caucasus to establish comics for adults in addition to the children's and youth sector. According to Knigge, Pip “relied on the uptight, petty-bourgeois prudish sex of soft-porn photo episodes”.
