The Piscina Solário Atlântico is an outdoor swimming pool in the Portuguese city of Espinho .

history

The complex was built from 1942 by the architects Eduardo Martins and Manuel Passos in the northern city center in close proximity to the Atlantic coast and inaugurated on June 10, 1943. In the modern style of the Estado Novo , the architects created a complex of asymmetrically arranged structures. The appearance is determined by a tower on the southeast side.

In 1960 the swimming pool became the property of the Câmara Municipal de Espinho. The west wall was destroyed by the sea surf. The last major structural changes began in December 1997.
