Pizi Phara and Koe Thaung

The Pizi Phara Pagoda is a Buddhist stupa in Mrauk U , Myanmar . It was built in 1123 under King Kawliya .

description

The pagoda stands on a hill not far from the Koe Thaung Temple , from which one has a good view. Only the remains of the wall and some larger than life Buddha statues have been preserved. Style analyzes on the central statue point to the middle of the 12th century and indicate influences from Bagan .
The legend reports that the Buddha's testicles are kept here, which is why the pagoda was held in high esteem by Buddhist believers.
