Platerstrasse

The Pläterstraße in Rostock is a short and narrow cross street that connects the Wokrenterstraße with the Lagerstraße in a west-east direction . It is part of the former Rostock Neustadt .

The Pläterstraße was first mentioned under its name in 1501, but without its name as early as 1280. The name of the Pläterstraße is difficult to interpret, it is possible that it referred to the trade of the plater , the manufacturer of armaments. The Pläterstraße had a distinct cross-street character, which was underlined by the fact that part of its development consisted only of eight-sided buildings, i.e. rear buildings of the streets that connect them. The other part were stalls.

In the nights of bombing at the end of April 1942, Pläterstrasse was completely destroyed and later rebuilt with attractive residential buildings.
