Plestia
Plestia was an ancient city in the Italian region of Umbria . It was located near today's Colfiorito (part of the municipality of Foligno ) on a plateau on Lacus Plestinus , a lake that was drained in modern times.
Plestia was a Roman municipality of the Oufentina tribe . In his vicinity he was victorious in 217 BC. After the battle of Lake Trasimeno, the Carthaginian cavalry over the Roman. The titular diocese of Plestia of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to a diocese of the city . Plestia was abandoned in the 10th century.
Excavations since 1960 have uncovered the remains of public buildings and houses from Roman times, as well as a sanctuary from pre-Roman times and a settlement from the Iron Age.
