Connecting rod violin

As Pleuelgeige is called in piston engines and - compressors to a complete revolution of the crankshaft required space of the connecting rod .

The term comes from the violin-like contour that the outermost points of the connecting rod describe during a rotation. When designing the crankcase , sufficient clearance must be guaranteed between the connecting rod and the housing.
