Pliska (drink)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pliska is a Bulgarian brandy. It is named after the medieval Bulgarian capital Pliska . The at least five stars on the Pliska label stand for five years of aging in oak barrels , even more noble (and more expensive) products have been stored for 10, 13 or even 17 years. Pliska usually has around 40% alcohol by volume.

Older labels from Pliska bottles are valuable for collectors today. The brandy was imported from Bulgaria early on and sold in Germany.

The best-known distributor of Pliska is the beverage manufacturer Gamza from the Bulgarian city of Pleven .

Appearance and taste

The appearance of Pliska brandy is usually described as mahogany in color. Among other things, the drink contains vanilla flavors, which are essentially responsible for its taste.
