Poimenics
Poimenik (from the Greek ποιμήν poimḗn = shepherd) is the teaching of pastoral care as a sub-discipline of practical theology .
Applied Christian pastoral care has a long history. There are essentially four approaches in contemporary pastoral teaching:
- Nutritious approach : through rebuke and admonition; every problem has a biblical solution
- kerygmatic approach: pastoral care as the proclamation of the word of God to the individual.
- Pastoral psychological approach: Pastoral care as an advisory discussion on liberation.
- Evangelical approach: Pastoral care as "biblical" therapy .
