The Poker Face (of English poker face to German poker face ) refers to an emotionless face. The term comes from the poker game , in which the renouncement of any facial expressions is an important element of the game. Due to the demonstratively exhibited lack of emotion, a player tries not to enable the opponents to draw any conclusions about the evaluation of their own cards, which they could obtain based on any reactions or the behavior of the player. In the game of poker itself, the counterpart to the poker face is called a tell .

The term is often used in everyday life when a person shows no emotion in a tense situation, e.g. B. at negotiations or before important events.
