Political Headquarters

Political Headquarters is the name for the highest party organization within the army of a socialist country. These organizations served to enforce the "leading role of the Communist Party" within the military of the respective countries:

• Political Main Administration (NVA) , until 1961 Political Administration (PV), then Political Main Administration (PHV), department in the Ministry for National Defense of the GDR
