Andorra Police Corps
The Police Corps of Andorra ( Catalan Cos de Policia d'Andorra ) is the police force of the Principality of Andorra .

Its powers are regulated, among other things, in police law. It has the task of ensuring or restoring public safety and order, regulating and monitoring road traffic and, as a law enforcement authority, investigating criminal and irregular acts. Another task is to avert danger in the area of internal security, that is to say the prevention or suppression of acts that are either punishable by fines or fines or also acts that are subject to a legal prohibition.
history
The Policia d'Andorra was founded in 1931 as the Servei d'Ordre and was subordinate to the respective mayors of the towns until the constitution came into force in 1993. Until 1993 there was no clear separation of legislative, executive and judicial powers in Andorra.
Only after the Constitution of March 14, 1993, Constitució del Principat d'Andorra came into force , the uniform national police of Andorra, Cos de Policia d'Andorra , was founded under the direction of the Ministre de Justícia i Interior .

The management of the police consists of a director, a deputy director and the secretariat. You lead police activities across the country. Andorra is a member of Interpol .
The approximately 295 members, including 235 police officers of the Cos de Policia d'Andorra (as of 2012), are divided into four departments and special units with the following tasks:
- Criminal Police Department with the national central office of Interpol
- Public Security Department
- Police Support Department, it is responsible for the operational support of the other departments and consists of six sub-departments: Criminal Police Information Analysis, Legal Issues, Information Technology, Training, Prevention and Social Orientation and Management.
- Transit Department consists of three uniformed units: road traffic, motorcycle patrol and border police with the task of border protection and immigration control, which is carried out in cooperation with the Immigration Department.
- Six special units, such as personal protection, dog units and mountain rescue. The Grup d'Intervenció Policia d'Andorra (GIPA) is a small special unit that was founded in 1978 to combat terrorism.
