The Polytechnic University of Ivanovo (IVGPU) - The State educational institution of higher education "Iwanower State Polytechnic University" was on 28 November 2012 Statement of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation №995 from 28 November 2012 by the merger of the State University of Architecture and Construction and the State Textile Academy, both in the city of Ivanovo .
history
The history of Ivanovo Polytechnic University began in 2012 with the union of the accumulated experiences and traditions of two Ivanov universities - the State University of Architecture and Construction and the State Textile Academy, the total age of which had exceeded a century and a half.
The IVGPU as the youngest university in the Ivanov region continues the traditions of the Ivanovo-Vosnesensk Polytechnic Institute, which was founded in 1918 on the initiative of MV Frunze.
Increasing the competitiveness and quality of education is the basic goal of the new university. The improvement of the resource supply, the growth of human and scientific potential, the maximum contact with the economy and with regional employers have become the most important development positions. The university shows constant growth in its achievements. The results of the annual ministerial monitoring of the effectiveness of universities and authoritative evaluations bear witness to this.
The idea of founding IVGPU is based on the following principles:
- Systemic standpoint on education;
- Creation of the best conditions for the preparation of cadres able to implement the cluster strategy and synergetic ideas in the socio-economic development of the region;
- Historical continuity, according to which IVGPU positions itself as the recipient of the traditions of the Ivanovo-Vosnesensk Polytechnic Institute;
- Continuous training and development of the university as an educational system that can prepare professional cadres at all levels, including primary, secondary, higher (Bachelor and Master), additional professional training, training of highly qualified teachers through aspirations and doctorates.
Evgeny Vladimirovich Rumyantsev was appointed acting rector of the Ivanovo State Polytechnic University on April 24, 2018 by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. On the post of university director he replaced Robert Mishaewitsch Aloyan, who ended the contract.
On April 22, 2013, the educational organization was registered legal.
Development strategy
The main task of IVGPU is the generation of new knowledge and courteous training of competencies, creation and introduction of innovations, training of the professionals who ensure the advanced scientific, technological and socio-economic development of the Ivanov region and Russia as a whole.
The strategic goal of IVGPU by 2023 is to develop the university into an entrepreneurial research university in which the most important aspects of activities can be transformed and new economic and management solutions can be introduced as instruments to secure one's own competitiveness.
The target model for the development of the university is the transition to a proactive model (Benchmark - University 3.0), based on an objective evaluation of one's own effectiveness and resource allocation for:
- Creating conditions for the training of graduates who are able to create innovative science-intensive products and who are required by the conditions of the innovative economy;
- Creation of growth points that ensure the formation of innovations and attract investment from their launches;
- Ensuring continuous coordination with the external (market) environment in all areas of activity.
Students and teachers
The university educates more than 3,000 students from 21 regions of the Russian Federation and 17 countries. More than 250 academic and educational staff, over 85% of whom have degrees from Candidates and Doctors of Science, work here.

Right to award doctorates
The defense of candidate and doctoral theses takes place in two specialized dissertation councils (in the evaluation of the dissertation councils in the Russian Federation in 2016, the IVGPU dissertation council for building sciences ranks sixth out of 46).
Research activities
Research activity of the university is carried out within 19 main research directions, which correspond to the priority areas of the development of science, technology and engineering in the Russian Federation.
The basis of the scientific and innovative industrial infrastructure of the IVGPU is:
- 5 science and education centers created in collaboration with manufacturing companies and the Solution Chemistry Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
- three small innovative companies;
- dozens of scientific laboratories;
- own publishing house and operational printing department;
- Complexes of exhibition and resource centers.
Engineering Center for Textile and Light Industry (IC TLP)
IC TLP was founded in 2014 as a result of the reorganization of the Office for Innovation IVGPU. In the same year, the center won the public competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation for the granting of state support for pilot projects for the creation and development of engineering centers on the basis of educational institutions of higher education.
University infrastructure
IVGPU structure includes:
five teaching buildings;
two hostels on campus;
an extensive basic library with a book inventory of over a million books;
Sports complex;
Vacation home in the town of Plyos.

Places in the dormitories are distributed by the IVGPU institutes. The order of the rector of the university annually approves the start date of the settlement.
Students who do not live in Ivanovo are the first to get places.
Applicants and accompanying persons during the admission process receive places for a temporary stay. Close relatives with the permission given during the guest visit to the hostels on the campus will be given temporary accommodation with payment to be determined by the local authorities.
Vacation home
The holiday home is located outside the city of Ivanovo, works all year round. Here students, university teachers and others can relax. The inn offers space for 40 people.
The recreation center is located in Ivanov Region (Plyos town, 2 Kalinina street).
Service and equipment: a two-story house, kitchen, sanitary facilities, well-tended green space. There is table tennis, billiards, sports equipment rental and a library.
Scientific Conferences
The international science and practice forum SMARTEX, which has been organized jointly with the Institute for Solution Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 1998, is known far beyond the country's borders and entered the program of the uniform congress and exhibition events of the Russian Union of Textile and light industrial entrepreneurs (SOYUZLEGPROM).
The interregional (with international participation) scientific and technical youth conference "Young Scientists for the Development of the National Technological Initiative" ("SEARCH") and the interregional scientific and practical seminar "Genesis of the economic and social problems of the market economy in Russia" take place in the IVGPU im The regional festival "Young Science for Development of the Ivanovo Region" took place. The annual international scientific and technical conference "Information Environment of the University" is dedicated to the introduction of information technologies in education and industry.
International activities
International cooperation is an essential part of the university's activities, an important factor for the recognition of the authority and the consolidation of the leadership positions of IVGPU in the global science and education area. The main directions in the field of international relations are:
- Training of specialists for abroad;
- Dissemination of beneficial bilateral and multilateral relationships with foreign universities, research centers, companies through development of academic exchanges and joint research; through scientific conferences, forums and seminars as well as by strengthening cultural ties.
Representatives of well-known science schools for textile and clothing design were repeatedly awardees of various international and all-Russian fashion festivals from 2010 to 2018.
In the international area, the activities associated with the training of specialists for foreign countries predominate. Today there are cooperation agreements with more than 50 foreign universities, associations and companies from Europe, America, Asia, Africa, Australia.
Most important parts of international activities
- Participation in the TEMPUS program of the Commission of the European Communities (the Chair of Social and Cultural Services and Tourism of the Textile Institute has created an interregional resource center for the training and retraining of tourism and hospitality staff as part of the "Creation of a network of tourism centers" project) ;
- Participation of the Institute for Management and Production Organization in the project "Lifelong learning and development of innovative technologies in the field of energy saving and environmental control";
- Participation in the "Immanuel Kant" program of the German Academic Exchange Service and the Russian Ministry of Education and Science (three grants);
- Participation in the British Council's "Internationalization of Higher Education" program (a grant);
- Participation in the 2nd Russian-Chinese Forum of High Technologies (November 2017, Moscow);
- Partnership of the engineering center for textile and light industry of IVGPU with foreign companies LAROCHE SA France and "Akroma Consulting Switzerland GmbH";
- Opening of the Center for International Language Education.
In 2014-2017, representatives of the university participated in international conferences, seminars, exhibitions in foreign educational and scientific centers (Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Egypt, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, France, Switzerland, Sweden) and international competitions of clothing designers in China part. They did internships in Germany and France, led seminars and consulted students in China, Kazakhstan and France.
The cooperation with China has a special place in the international life of the university. In IVSPU, the training of cadres from China, including the highest qualifications, for textile and fashion industries is carried out. Chinese designers take part in Russian competitions ("Russian silhouette", "Gubernsky style", "textile salon"). Chinese designer exhibitions are held regularly in the university departments. Our students use elements of Chinese folk costume in developing fashion collections.
Center for International Language Education
INGPU's Center for International Language Education is based on the Chair of Foreign Languages and deals with the education of foreign students and offers linguistic support for teaching Russian as a foreign language.
IVGPU as a state educational institution for higher education has the right to carry out:
- State Examination of the Russian Language for Citizenship in the Russian Federation;
- State examination of the Russian language for citizens who wish to obtain a work permit or patent, temporary residence permit or a permit to stay in Russia.
Library
The library is one of the leading structural units of the university, whose main tasks are the promotion of scientific and educational information as well as assistance in the intellectual and cultural development of the individual.
The library serves more than 12,000 users; more than 70,000 orders are registered every year.
The book inventory is more than a million units.
Informatization of university activities
More than 1000 PCs, which are combined in a network, stand for IT. A computer class complex and a workstation are available to students, staff and teachers.
art
Model art theater studio
IVGPU's theater studio for model art conducts training courses for boys and girls between the ages of 15 and 25.
There are training courses in the art of defiling, movement sculpture, acting, modeling, make-up technology, etc. a. offered
The students receive a certificate for additional training.
"Universe City" dance team
The Universe City dance team was founded in 2015 with the support of the student union.
The team's goal is to support talented students and engage them in creative activities.
