The Ponte Estaiada Octávio Frias de Oliveira is a cable-stayed bridge over the Rio Pinheiros in São Paulo , Brazil . The structure is 1,600 m long and the pylon is 138 m high. The bridge was opened in 2008 and is used for vehicle traffic. The shape of the beam, which resembles an X, is unusual. As a further highlight, Philips had fully computer-controlled, color-changing LEDs installed, which illuminate the bridge in different patterns and shapes at night. The construction costs were R $ 184 million for the bridge construction and R $ 40 million for the lighting.
