The Pony Club is an international youth organization dedicated to training young people in equestrian sports and handling horses. There are pony club associations worldwide. In Germany there is no special pony club association, but the FN youth organization is a member of the international pony club. The national pony club associations are particularly large in Great Britain , Ireland , the USA , Canada , New Zealand and Australia .

history

The first pony club was founded in Great Britain in 1929 as a voluntary organization under the name "The Pony Club". It was founded to encourage children to ride and is part of the British Equestrian Federation. Today there are around 600 pony club facilities in the UK, making the Pony Club the first stop in their careers for the vast majority of British equestrians and medalists.

Due to the success of the British Pony Club, pony clubs were also founded in other countries. Today is the largest national pony club association in Australia.

structure

Each national pony club association consists of local pony clubs. The local clubs are of different sizes and organize regional competitions among themselves. The participants are between 8 and 25 years old. Due to the wide range, the older club members can support the young and the young learn from the older. The USA Pony Club is headquartered in the Kentucky Horse Park .
