The Porta Nuova (also Barriera delle Grazie ) is a monumental city gate in Bergamo .

Cusi's project on an etching from 1830.

It was built in 1837 in the classical style on the occasion of the arrival of Ferdinand I of Austria (1838) according to an earlier project by the architect Giuseppe Cusi from 1828, which Ferdinando Crivelli was involved in building.

The construction of the Propylaea and Viale Papa Giovanni, which connects the Bergamo railway station, built by the Austrian Southern Railway Company, with the funicular in the upper part of the city, forced the demolition of the monastery and the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie .
