Porta Salutaris

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Porta Salutaris was an ancient city gate of the Servian Wall in Rome .

The gate was named after the nearby temple of Salus , which was located on the collis Salutaris , one of the elevations of the Quirinal . A small path up to the temple probably began at the gate of the clivus Salutaris , so that the gate can be located immediately southwest of the temple, probably at the upper end of today's Via della Dataria.
