Portland Project

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Portland Project is an initiative of the FreeDesktop.org Project , which aims to facilitate the porting of application software . These are platform- and desktop multi- functions for independent software developers ( ISV ) provided. This increases portability between the various operating systems such as Linux , Unix , MacOS and Windows .

Among other things, it is possible to temporarily switch off the screen saver of the respective desktop from an application, to call up a shared printer and file open dialog or to be able to access files in a platform-independent manner.
