Independent software vendor

An independent software vendor ( ISV ) is a software company , the application programs independent of the providers of important software - platforms such as Microsoft , IBM , SAP and Oracle developed and marketed. "Independent software vendor" is therefore a broad collective term for a large number of software manufacturers.

ISVs usually have the option of having their software certified by the manufacturer of the respective platform and thus having their compatibility checked and confirmed.
