Posavsko kolo

Posavsko kolo is a folklore festival in the Odžak municipality in Bosnia and Herzegovina . The name Posavsko kolo comes from the word Posavina = area on the Save or Savetal and describes the flat land lying on both sides in today's Croatia , Bosnia and Herzegovina and kolo . Kolo means "round", here in the sense of "dance round".

Posavsko kolo is one of the most important events for the tourism promotion of the Odžak municipality and the entire county, as an economic, cultural and sporting event with an international character. This traditional festival has taken place six times on the Feast of the Assumption (August 15th) in the territory of the Odžak municipality.

history

This tradition originated after the Bosnian War and dates back to pre-war gatherings on the occasion of the holiday. Posavsko kolo 2006 was declared the best organized folklore festival of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. At that time, over 600 participants and 18 folklore groups showed their traditions and customs from Switzerland , France , Croatia and all three nations from Bosnia and Herzegovina in more than eight hours of uninterrupted program .

The program lasts a few days and includes numerous cultural, sporting and economic events. As part of this event, sports tournaments, exhibitions, fashion shows, book presentations, Kulen exhibitions (Kulen = sausage specialty from the region), classical, pop and rock concerts, and an international folklore festival take place. The folklore festival is the focus of this event. In addition to the folklore festival, a picture exhibition, karate, volleyball and basketball tournaments, a cattle exhibition, a rock concert, a biker meeting and fireworks complete the program. Specific costumes, traditional games and customs are shown on the stage. Maintaining the cultural heritage at the festival is of great importance for the cohesion of the different ethnic groups and brings together hundreds of displaced people from the region every year. Many local and foreign tourists visit the festival, the number of visitors exceeds 10,000 people of various ages every year.
