Coldwater is the largest city and county seat of Comanche County in Kansas , United States. With the census of the year 2000 792 inhabitants were determined for the place. The parish area also includes 85 acre Lake Coldwater . In Coldwater is the South Central High School, whose mascots are the Timberwolves (abbreviated: T-Wolves). The associated elementary and middle schools are located in Protection, Kansas , as the Coldwater High and Protection High schools merged in 2000. The school colors are green and black. There are around 80 students in high school, around 10% of whom are exchange students from different countries. In addition, the local cinema theater "The Chief" is located in a historic building in the village and is popular with the locals. There are also several churches, restaurants and shops, as well as a hospital and a home for the elderly, the "Pioneer Lodge". The mayor of the city is Tony Smith.
