Positive upbringing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Positive education is a term from educational science or psychology .

This term goes back to Jean-Jacques Rousseau and means “moral education”. Rousseau originally established the term " negative education ", which is "not instructing" but "preserving". The human being is "naturally good" and only needs to be protected from harmful influences until he reaches the limits of the other, which is a natural limit according to which the human or the child is then formed.

“Positive” here means the formulation and active conveyance of values in upbringing, which, according to Rousseau, equates to manipulation and indoctrination and hinders the natural development of the child, not to be confused with “positive reinforcers”.
