Postal certification

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Postal certifications serve as a quality feature of software for automatic address validation . Addresses issued by certified software enable correct, fast and automatic processing by the local delivery services. There are currently five postal companies worldwide that test and certify address correction software:

Certified software for address verification is a prerequisite in Australia, the USA and New Zealand in order to send advertising, Infopost or bulk mail with discounted postage rates. Senders who validate their addresses with the help of such software not only receive accurate delivery and billing addresses, but the items can also be delivered more efficiently and punctually.

SendRight ™

New Zealand Post, New Zealand Post , launched its SendRight ™ certification program in 2008 to reduce the number of incorrectly addressed letters and parcels within New Zealand. This program requires bulk mailers to match recipient addresses with the New Zealand Post Postal Address File (PAF). The PAF contains around 1.8 million delivery addresses and serves as a reference data record for issuing a Statement of Accuracy (SOA). In order to receive the certification and the associated postage discount, the sender must prove a SOA percentage of at least 85%. The proportion of items with incorrect addresses that is below this percentage is calculated using the standard postage price. Address screening software can be qualified for SendRight ™ by going through a well-defined process that verifies the accuracy, quality and compliance with address standards so that SOAs can be issued.

Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS)

USPS offers an official certification process (CASS) for software for address validation. Certification is required for bulk mailing at reduced rates within the United States. The requirements defined by USPS for the current CASS certification cycle N including SuiteLink include the demanding implementation of the additional USPS products DPV (Delivery Point Validation), LACSLink (Locatable Address Conversion System) and SuiteLink and are necessary to pass. The USPS requires that DPV, LACSLink and SuiteLink data must remain within the USA. As a result, address cleansing software that uses these records cannot generally be deployed outside of the United States. The next certification cycle is O.

Address Matching Approval System (AMAS®)

Address Matching Approval System (AMAS®) measures the accuracy of software for address verification and correction. Companies that check their addresses with certified software before shipping benefit from reduced costs and postage discounts. The certified software can complete, correct and correctly format over 12 million addresses in Australia. Each address can also be supplemented with an 8-digit number known as the Delivery Point Identifier (DPID). The DPID ensures that mail in Australia is delivered on time and efficiently. Australia Post's PreSort Letter Service also offers postage discounts . In order to receive AMAS certification, the DPID rate of the address validation software must be at least 99.6 percent.

The Software Evaluation and Recognition Program (SERP) expects address screening software to carefully categorize addresses as valid or invalid in 99% of cases. The software must be able to correct at least 90% of the 'correctable' data and this with at least 99% accuracy.
