Posto administrativo (Mozambique)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
District and provincial borders of Mozambique

The Mozambican districts are divided into 415 Postos administrativos ( Portuguese administrative office ). A further increase in their number can be expected since a legislative proposal from March 2014.

Even before the country gained independence in 1975, the districts were divided into Postos administrativos by the Portuguese colonial administration . After independence, they were replaced by so-called localidades . In 1986 the Postos administrativos were restored and the Localidades were subdivided into them as the lowest administrative unit.
