Power yoga

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Power Yoga is an American variation on Ashtanga Yoga .

Modern Power Yoga differs from Ashtanga Yoga in one point. In Power Yoga position , movement sequences and breathing technique are adapted to the practitioner, while the movement sequences and positions in Ashtanga Yoga always remain the same. Since the exercises are adapted to the requirements of the practitioner, Power Yoga can be used for a broad section of the population. With these modifications, Indian traditional yoga becomes a type of training that can be used in the western world. Power Yoga is a sport in which physical strength, flexibility as well as balance and mind are trained. Through the combination of poses, which are connected to dynamic movement sequences, with the right breathing technique, body and mind are trained and strengthened. As with all yoga styles, power yoga promotes mental calm and inner balance through the regularity of the exercises.
