Power cutback

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Power cutback , a signal adjustment ( literal translation of the term: cutting back the (sc. Transmission) power ), is an operating parameter in telecommunications equipment in data traffic according to the ADSL and ADSL2 pseudo standard.

It is a signal adaptation in the power range u. a. with the aim of improving the transmission quality of the opposite direction and of neighboring lines (reduction of crosstalk) and reducing the power loss of the transmitter (relevant for exchanges in which many transmitters jointly require electrical energy in a small space and produce waste heat).

Measure

The specification in dB describes the ratio of the transmit power used by one of the communication partners in relation to their maximum value.

term

The English term is usually used untranslated, at least this applies to the network of leading telecommunications providers in the German market and to the devices of the German manufacturer AVM ( Fritz! Box ).
