The ppi Media GmbH is a German manufacturer of software for automated newspaper production and the cross-media publishing editorial content. The company is based in Hamburg, with another location in Kiel. The subsidiary ppi Media US Inc. is based in Chicago.

According to its own information, ppi Media is the market leader in Germany. ppi software is used in almost 80% of the daily newspapers produced in Germany.

history

In 1984 Peter Pape founded Pape + Partner Informationssysteme GmbH. From 1985 the company developed an electronic system for planning newspaper products and controlling production processes.

After the software development of solutions for the financial sector had also started, Pape + Partner Informationssysteme GmbH split up in 1995 into the companies PPI Financial Systems GmbH and Pape + Partner Media GmbH. PPI Financial Systems GmbH (now PPI AG) offers software solutions and consulting services for the financial sector, Pape + Partner Media GmbH (now ppi Media GmbH) has focused on solutions for the publishing and newspaper industries since its foundation.

In 2002 MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AG acquired a majority stake in Pape + Partner Media GmbH. From 2012 to the end of 2018, ppi Media was part of the Eversfrank Group. In January 2019, the managing directors Hauke ​​Berndt and Manuel Scheyda took over ppi Media as the majority shareholder as part of a management buyout.

Products

Among the products for workflows include the software PlanPag for planning and production of daily newspapers, the page assembly system ProPag, the output management system OM for printing form production, and developed together with the company Digital Collections editorial system Content-X.
