Dissecting scissors

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dissecting is a surgical instrument that is used for the following operation works:

  • By closing the scissors, i.e. by normal cutting with the cutting edges, tissue and vessels in the surgical wound can be severed.
  • By so-called "scissors blows" outwards (spreading the scissors), tissue, vessels or organs can be prepared bluntly.
  • The closed scissors can also be used for blunt dissection , as with an elevator .

Typical shape features of dissecting scissors are their rounded cutting blades and cutting blade tips as well as the complete covering of the cutting blades when closed, so that the scissors can be used as a dissecting instrument without sharp edges. This minimizes the risk of trauma during blunt dissection.
