2014 presidential election in Costa Rica
The 2014 presidential election in Costa Rica was won by Luis Guillermo Solís. In a runoff election on April 6, 2014, he received 77.8% of the valid votes.
Johnny Araya Monge (22.1%) announced on March 6th that he would no longer campaign for the runoff election; there is no real chance of winning the election. Such a withdrawal was not regulated in the electoral law; the runoff election therefore took place anyway.
